Did you know:
- Co- Founder Gary Platt was the brain who came up with the basic concept for the college.
- Co- Founder and investor Eckart Wintzen was the one with a lot of “out of the ordinary” business experience.
- Gary and Eckart met in 1997.
- Their vision for the college was to prepare passionate people for careers in the upcoming industries of sound and visual arts with a very hands on curriculum.
- Ex’pression is located in the San Francisco Bay Area as a lot of the industry is near – in Marin County, San Francisco and Silicon Valley – and because of the creative culture.
- The very first student at the Emeryville campus was Marc Bode.
- Nowadays Ex’pression is owned by Eckart’s daughter Clien Wintzen, as Eckart passed away in 2008.
- Our first hires Ty Carriere and John Scanlon still work here and are both Program Directors now!
- The Wintzen family is from The Netherlands, which is the same as Holland and the language is Dutch.
- Clien Wintzen moved to the Bay Area in 2010 to continue the vision and help CEO Dan Levinson run the college.
- The very first student at the San Jose campus is Matt Lindsay.
- Ex’pression is spelled with Ex’ as Eckart owned several companies which names all started that way. Ex’ stands for Eck’s, short for Eckart’s.
