Brian Andrews | Course Director

Brian Andrews is a contemporary artist who employs a range of technologies in photography, video, and taxidermy. His artwork explores how artificiality and technology distort the boundaries between contemporary culture and our ideas of nature. He has exhibited his work at SIGGRAPH, the New Center for Contemporary Art, and Gallery 40000, among many others. Understanding art-making as a communicative exercise, Brian Andrews records on contemporary art as a producer of Bad at Sports Contemporary Art Podcast. His critical writings can be found in Artnet, Beautiful/Decay Magazine, as well as numerous exhibition catalogs. He received a Masters of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2002, and Bachelors of Arts in Visual Arts and Psychology with Highest Honors at the University of California San Diego in 2000. He is the Course Director for compositing in the Animation and Visual Effects program at Expression College of Digital Art in Emeryville, California. Currently he resides in San Francisco with his wife Stephanie, cats Opie and Mara, and barbeque named Blue.
