Tom won a Gold Award from the Houston International Film Festival for his 20-minute thesis video, which he wrote and directed at USC Cinema School.
Growing up he had a great love of movies and made many with an 8mm camera.
After college, he worked for Lucasfilm for a brief time before devoting his efforts to screenwriting. In 1994 a screenplay he co-wrote with a friend sold to Warner Brothers Studios. He also wrote a number of other scripts and an episode of the TV series Vanishing Son. In 2001, Tom wrote and directed a low budget feature, No Return, on digital video. The movie was in several festivals and was distributed domestically and internationally on VHS and DVD. Toms most recent script involves the Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906.
