Chryssa Sanders | Director Industry Relations - Visual Arts

Chryssa Sanders comes to Expression from The Orphanage, a leading Visual Effects facility in San Francisco. She was the Resource Manager there for two years, during which time she headed up all company events and recruiting for such films as Hellboy, The Day After Tomorrow, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Sin City, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, as well as numerous commercials. While at The Orphanage, Chryssa had the pleasure of meeting and hiring several talented Expression graduates!

Before The Orphanage, Chryssa was at PDI/Dreamworks (now Dreamworks Animation), first in their now-defunct Commercial and Feature Effects Division working on A.I., Evolution, and Minority Report. She then moved into the Animation division, working as the Central Production Coordinator on the Universal Studios project Shrek 4D, and the feature film Madagascar.

Chryssa started her career in the Entertainment Industry in professional theatre. After numerous costume and scenic internships and backstage crew jobs, she became a professional stage manager. Chryssa was the Production Stage Manager for TheatreWorks in Palo Alto from 1994 to 2000, during which time many of her productions garnered multiple Bay Area Theatre Critics’ Circle Awards. Her favorite productions included Cabaret, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Side Show, and Sunday in the Park with George. Chryssa was fortunate to be able to work with the composer/playwright team of Henry Krieger (Dreamgirls) and Bill Russell on the World Premiere of their musical Everything’s Ducky. She also managed productions at San Jose Repertory Theatre and American Conservatory Theatre. Chryssa is a proud member of SIGGRAPH, Visual Effects Society, and Actor’s Equity Association, the professional union of actors and stage managers.
