Georgina or “George” as we like to call her found herself at Expression just one week after rolling into the Bay Area from a long cross country car ride with her dog, cat, bird and partner. This motley crew hailing from New York City decided to move to the west coast to pursue the local music scene and find the time to relax and enjoy everything that California has to offer after the hustle and bustle of life in NYC.
After gaining her Bachelors of Visual Arts in photography from Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand (yeah, that’s right she’s a kiwi – not to be mistaken for an Australian) George jumped at the opportunity to work in the United States. A five month stay quickly turned into nine years and counting. Following a long career in retail management and merchandising she has now found her home in Expression’s Industry and Career Services. Here she enjoys working with the students and constantly being around music, art and talented professionals.
George has always been an avid music fan, and couldn’t tell you the number of concerts she’s been too. Although not a musician (unless you call four years of recorder and a year of drums being musical) she loves the process and can actually still play a mean Billy Jean beat on the kit!
When she’s not working, George can be found out with her camera photographing the local music scene or making one of a-kind gemstone jewelry. In the future George plans to do lots more traveling, have her photographs published in a magazine and maybe one day make it back home.
