Jane Metcalfe
Jane Metcalfe today is a partner in Força da Imaginaçao, an independent investment concern with interests in technology, media, and real estate.
As the former president and co-founder of Wired Ventures Inc., Ms. Metcalfe created and managed, with Louis Rossetto, a diversified media company whose businesses then included Wired Magazine (US, UK, and Japanese editions); the online company Wired Digital Inc., ( publishers of the HotBot search engine, the HotWired Network of web sites, and Wired News); and Wired Books Inc.
Prior to the creation of Wired, Ms. Metcalfe served as Associate Publisher of Electric Word magazine, the Amsterdam-based, internationally distributed “cult” publication often described as “the least boring computer magazine in the world”. Before the creation of Electric Word, Ms. Metcalfe held various sales and marketing positions throughout Europe, including a stint as the Director of Export sales for a Paris-based fashion house.
Jane Metcalfe is a board member of:
The Expression College for Digital Arts, a for profit total immersion educational facility in Emeryville, CA;
Ground Zero: The Art and Technology Network, a non-profit start-up formed to facilitate the creation and promotion of new media art; and
One Economy Corporation, a non-profit start up whose mission is to use technology to help low income people participate in the new economy.
Ms. Metcalfe graduated cum laude from the University of Colorado with a degree in international relations. She is the proud mother of two 21st century citizens.
