Many of our teaching positions are part-time; all require a BA/BS. We feature an accelerated style of learning, professional grade art and sound recording studios, 24x7 access, and dozens of faculty with significant industry experience. Associate Program Director, Motion Graphic DesignAssist the Program Director (PD) in the administration of the Motion Graphic Design Department.

As an Admissions Representative you will represent Ex’pression and help guide potential students through the admissions and enrollment process. In this position you get to experience all of the rewards of changing lives for the better as you help students achieve their goal of a college education.

Interested candidates will have a positive attitude, excellent written and oral communication skills, be a team player, and display the motivation needed to achieve established goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Teach 60 contact hours on average per term in any fitting class.
  • Coordinate Schedules with instructors and scheduler.
  • Facilitate, organize, and notate MGD staff and PAC meetings.
  • Help recruit and train teachers.
  • Assist PD in preparing ACCSCT and regulatory paperwork.
  • Updating and maintaining Syllabi and course materials.
  • Updating and checking catalog.
  • Interface with I.S. and equipment, see repairs and new installations through completion.
  • Acquire and Inventory all Motion Graphic Design supplies (working with Classroom Supplies Budget, as provided by PD)
  • Keep PD up-to-date on any changes/needs in Classroom Supplies Budget
  • Promptly communicate with Instructors and Course Directors in regards to: teaching availability, meetings, policies, timesheets.
  • Submit POs / Check Requests through Accounts Payable
  • Assist in organization of Department facilities
  • Assist PD in Yearly Faculty Reviews
  • Assist PD in Quarterly In-Class Evaluations
  • Be an available mentor to Department Faculty and students.
  • Remain current in Department classes for emergency Course Director needs
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Education and/or PD.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Highly organized, professional, communicative.
  • A thorough and deep understanding of the Ex’pression administration, the Industry, and the students we serve.
  • Good people skills, detailed oriented, thorough with paperwork.
  • Proactive and self directed.
  • Teaching experience
  • Adept with communication tools: email, internet, copier

Education and/or Experience

  • BA in a related field from an Accredited College
  • 5+ years of professional work experience in one or more of the following fields: Typography, Graphic Design (Print, web, multimedia), Video production, Advertising, Motion Graphics, 3D.
  • Teaching experience.

Animation for Games InstructorPart-time instructor needed to teach and lab an Animation for Games Course, possibly assist in other classes as well.

Course Overview
This class focuses on animation sequences typically needed for games - walk cycles, run cycles, falls and hits. Students will create the animation assets for the game they design in Advanced Game Production.

Goals and Objectives
The goal for this class is to understand the set up and animation process for games. Students will learn how to create Character Sets, Use the Trax Editor, to make animation cycles and use non-linear animation; emphasis on animation for different emotions of character personalities.

Requirements
We are seeking one instructor to teach lectures and labs. Must be proficient in Maya and animation. Experience with the Unreal Engine is a huge plus though not required.

Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years experience working professionally in their respective fields (design, not necessarily games), ideally in association with the arts/media industry. A degree from an accredited 4-year college is required and it is mandatory that we have a copy of your degree on file. A background or experience in education is a huge plus, but not necessarily required for the right candidate with commensurate experience.

Schedule
Lectures are 3 hours long and Labs are 4 hours long, M/W/F for 5 weeks (This schedule can be adjusted depending on class availability and instructor availability.)

User Interface Design InstructorPart-time Flash instructors are needed to teach and lab a User Interface Course, possibly assist in other classes as well.

Course Overview
The design of a digital User Interface is a crucial element of any interactive environment. This class covers the theories and concepts behind good interface design in a broad sense - for educational applications, for business applications, for web applications. Students will study source material from usability tests and studies that exist for interactive industries, and research the emerging studies for interactive game interfaces. Students will be tasked with designing individual interfaces for an instructional element like a tutorial, followed by individual interfaces for an in-game element (ie., “choose your vehicle/character/level”, or an inventory). The course will conclude with a group project for the final week of instruction. This culminating project will involve a complete revamping of an existing user interface for an established product.

Students may also create a small game to post on a web page such as puzzle or maze game (Depending on the instructor’s proficiency in ActionScript).

Requirements
