Ex’pression College for Digital Arts
Ex’pression College AVE graduate, Dylan Jutt, had the exclusive opportunity to contribute his digital art to the rock band Metallica’s recent music video, “All Nightmare Long,” based on the Tunguska event, or Tunguska explosion in Russia from 1908.
“
“A friend of mine from Los Angeles put me in contact with the director of the music video, Robo Schobo. The model I provided for the Metallica video was originally created in my Modeling 2 class at Ex’pression. Instructors JP Li and Rodney Brett helped me a great deal in understanding the topology, which was done using Digital Raster. The model was then brought into ZBrush for the final sculpt, and for creating the polygonal detail, which was exported into a normal map. The same process went for the cat (seen on the operating table). The occlusion was created by blending the cavity map and normal map using Photoshop and CrazyBump.”
