Ex’pression College for Digital Arts
Meet Jordan Patz, Animation & Visual Effects Alumni, Class 65. Jordan was raised in Napa Valley wine country and has held a passion for video games since an early age. He grew up playing popular titles like Zelda and customizing Myst using the HyperCard editor, along with using tools like Ray Dream Studio. Before arriving at Ex’pression College to pursue his childhood passion, Jordan had already earned a degree in philosophy from Sonoma State University.

Jordan recounts his experience at Ex’pression by saying that he started off generally being very impatient, but eventually came to enjoy the course work, while expanding his artistic palette. “2D was especially challenging, along with drawing and painting.” Jordan personally chose to take the Game Production class twice. Not because he had to, but because he was so eager to master every aspect of the software and development process. During that class Jordan was a part of the Zeppelin Strike Force project and fellow classmates affectionately called him “Admiral” because of his previous work. Not only was the Zeppelin Strike Force an amazing class project, it also helped Jordan land an internship at America’s Army working on the Unreal 3 Team. The internship is even more impressive when you take into account that America’s Army doesn’t do internships!
Some of his other functions at America’s Army included level design, environments, and scripted sequences using Kismet in the Unreal Engine.
