Leo Tolentino (Animation & Visual Effects) 2007 grad lands great job

"I’m an Animation & Visual Effects (AVE) major specializing in rigging and skinning. I got into Harmonix rather quickly. They flew me over for an interview and within a couple weeks I was on the team for Rock Band. They took me on as an Asset Integrator, putting clothing and hair assets into the game. As soon I was able to show my other skills in rigging and skinning, I was quickly put upon the task of setting up dynamics in the game, as well as polishing the skinning work on game assets, along with other tasks that reflected my specialty.

Harmonix is a great company full of great creative people. Each day I go to work I know it’s not going to be a boring day. Amidst the fun atmosphere there are some serious work sessions we go through. Crunch sessions go on at this time, and although they are strenuous, it was something that Expression prepared me for.

Expression helped me by giving me the resources to learn about the industry, without it I wouldn’t have known the intricacies of rigging or the other “black arts” in technical artistry. What helped me the most was knowing the current trends in jobs. After hearing that Character TDs were in demand, I caught onto the tail of the trend as well as improving my skills to ensure I would keep up with the more seasoned tech art veterans.”
