Myrmyr by night
Ex’pression College is home to amazing talent and artistry. Case in point- Agnes Szelag, Course Director for Common Core. At the end of the day, after Agnes shuts down her computer and presses pause on her teaching duties, she transitions into another role with the performing groups Myrmyr and Dokuro.
Agnes is a composer, performer, and video/audio installation artist. Transformation is often a theme in her work as she creates spaces that connect the tangible with the intangible, interactive schemes that ride the line between composition and improvisation, and music that is both delicate and dark.
Snippets from our epic piece, “The Sea Returns”, usually performed with an ensemble. Here we are using a program we built in MaxMSP to trigger sounds and play them in surround sound.
Performed at the Music Community Center in San Francisco.
