Students work with Coraline animator

Justin Kohn (Coraline, James and the Giant Peach), along with cameraman Peter Williams (Coraline and others), brought their current project, a stop-motion film adapted from H. G. Wells War of the Worlds novel, to Ex’pression College to begin production on a trailer for the film.

I was always drawing and taking art classes. I watched a lot of cartoons after school- Voltron, Thundercats, Smurfs etc. I used to watch certain movies over and over again- Tron, Indiana Jones.

Comcast commercial filmed at Ex’pression

For the shoot, we utilized the impressive green-screen studio at the well-known Bay Area art school Ex’pression College for the Digital Arts. They allowed access for the day, and provided us with lighting and several helping hands from the many budding motion graphics artists in their classes.

Special Effects and San Francisco!

I am back in Regina after a whirlwind week in San Francisco (and yes, I took the above mandatory Golden Gate Bridge shot on the trip). It was a fantastic week! I got to work with Don Wood again (the actor playing Tom Sukanen), as well as David Cramer and Stephen Pocock (actors from the bar scene we shot last year in San Francisco).

Ex’pression College offers Bachelor’s Degrees in: Animation & Visual Effects, Digital Filmmaking, Game Art & Design, Motion Graphic Design, Interactive Audio, and Sound Arts. The Ex’pression College Bachelor’s Degree is accelerated, and may be earned in just over 2 ½ years.
