Ex’pression is located at 6601 Shellmound St. in Emeryville, California in the San Francisco East Bay Area (near Berkeley). Once a warehouse and industrial district of the Bay Area, Emeryville has evolved into a city known for artistic expression, biotech research, and software development. The school, located just off of Interstate 80, is easily accessed from San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, and surrounding cities. Many amenities can be found nearby. Restaurants, a large food court, a multi-screen Cineplex, bookstores, a high-end shopping center, and much more are only a short distance from campus. A network of public transportation, including the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), city buses, trains, and the “Emery-Go-Round”, free shuttles make the school easy to access.

Driving Directions:

From San Francisco:

Travel east on the Bay Bridge toward Oakland. At the end of the bridge, follow the signs to 80 E toward Sacramento/Berkeley. Exit at Ashby/Shellmound Street. The exit ramp splits. Follow to the right. At the stop sign, turn right onto Shellmound Street. Ex’pression is on the right side, approximately 150 feet from the exit.

From Concord/Walnut Creek:

Take Hwy 24 W and take exit 2B toward 580 W, merge on to I-580, and then merge on 80 E. Exit at Ashby/Shellmound Street. The exit ramp splits. Follow to the right. At the stop sign, turn right onto Shellmound Street. Ex’pression is on the right side, approximately 150 feet from the exit. You may also take 680 N/242 N to Hwy 4 West to 80 West, if you prefer.

From Silicon Valley or San Jose:

Travel Interstate 880 North. Follow 880 North to Interstate 80 East. Continue on 80 East and exit at Ashby/Shellmound Street. The exit ramp splits. Follow to the right. At the stop sign, turn right onto Shellmound Street. Ex’pression is on the right side, approximately 150 feet from the exit.

From San Rafael:

Travel Interstate 101 South toward Oakland/San Francisco. Take Interstate 580 East exit towards the Oakland/Richmond Bridge. Continue on Interstate 580 East/Interstate 80 West. Take the Ashby exit. Keep left and continue on the overpass toward Ashby Ave/CA-13.  Next, turn right at 7th Street and stay right as it curves onto Folger Avenue. Then stay left as it curves onto Hollis Street and turn right onto 65th Street. Continue on 65th, cross the railroad tracks, and turn into the 2nd entrance on your right to enter the south end of the campus parking lot.

By BART:

Take BART to the MacArthur exit and then take the Emery-Go-Round to Ex’pression College.

Take BART from various stops and exit at MacArthur Station. From there you can either take a taxi (should not be too expensive—about a 7 minute ride) or take the Emery-Go-Round which is a free shuttle that brings you within 1 block of the college. After exiting BART, walk to the “Shuttles” sign and wait for the Emery-go-Round. There are several routes, choose the “Shellmound/Powell” shuttle route. Exit the bus at Shellmound St. and 65th St. If you tell the driver that you’re going to Ex’pression they will usually let you know when you arrive. Walk east or toward 66th St. on Shellmound St. and we are at the cross section of 66th and Shellmound on your left. Schedules can be found on their websites at:

By Bus:

Take AC Transit’s transbay “Z” line (from San Francisco) to the MacArthur exit and then take the Emery-Go-Round to Ex’pression College.

The Trans Bay Bus, Z line (from San Francisco) will drop you off at the same place as the Emery-go-round near Ex’pression. Exit the bus at Shellmound St. and 65th St. If you tell the driver that you’re going to Ex’pression they will usually let you know when you arrive. Walk down 65th St. towards the freeway and the Ex’pression parking lot will be on the right. Walk through to get to the Main Entrance. Schedules can be found on their website at:

Trans Bay Bus

In the East Bay, the Line 19 bus serves parts of Berkeley, Emeryville (via Hollis Street), downtown Oakland and part of Alameda, with buses running every 30 minutes. Exit the bus at 65th & Hollis St. and walk west to Shellmound Street. We are at cross section of 66th and Shellmound on your left. The line 19 schedule can be found at:
