The Digital Filmmaking program is designed to train students in the fundamental skill set necessary for a career in media production. Training in this program prepares students for entry-level positions and careers in screenwriting, script writing, cinematography, editing, production and directing in broadcast, film, web, advertising, and other industries. Ex’pression College for Digital Arts is your California film and video production school with two convenient Bay Area locations in Emeryville and San Jose, and convenient from anywhere in Northern California.
At our Film School students will:
- Develop and produce motion picture content for any medium such as the big screen, the small screen, handheld devices, the web, video installations, and more.
- Practice competitive skills such as shooting for visual effects, grip and lighting, storytelling techniques, project planning and management, editing, title design, basic music composition, funding, and distribution.
- Take a project from the beginning conceptualization process through to final output.
In addition to taking General Education classes that are designed to develop essential academic skills for enhanced and continued life-long learning, our students also take courses in our Common Core program. Our Common Core curriculum provides every student with instruction in digital media literacy and 21st century design skills. These multidisciplinary courses combine practical training in digital video, audio, and design with guided development of “soft skills” such as storytelling, critical thinking, collaboration, resume writing, and job interview practice.
