Burma Presentation

Andrew Britt, Director of Animation & Visual Effects at Expression College, will present his stories, photos, and video from his adventure to Myanmar (Burma) where he trained people there in 3D animation. Myanmar is on the other side of the planet, between Thailand and India. It is a developing country that is primarily Buddhist with a military government and a long history. The ancient traditions are alive in the daily lives of the people and their artwork.

However, they have modern problems like water pollution and AIDS that are severely affecting the lives of the people. An American NGO called Population Services International (PSI) is working there to encourage people to wear condoms and treat their water. They do social marketing which takes many forms, and they are currently working to create television advertisements with their mascot, Pothinyo, who is a chameleon.

They brought in Andrew Britt to train them on 3D animation. He took the Expression Animation and Visual Effects curriculum and boiled it down to a week of intense training for the graphics department at PSI.  While there he also spoke at the American Embassy and traveled to the exotic ancient city of Bagan. Come see and hear all about it on February 23rd at 6pm in Expression’s Meyer Hall.
