Hats off to Roland Gauthier, an Expression alumnus who graduated in 2001. Roland just got promoted to CG head at Laika in Portland (formerly Will Vinton Studios). This is one of the top commercial animation houses in the country and is owned by Phil Knight. We are always very excited to hear of the successes of our Expression grads, and this is great news to inspire current students as well.

“He was always very determined and persistent in his work,” recalls Ty Carriere, course director in the Animation and Visual Effects program at Ex’pression and one of Roland’s teachers. “He would stay locked on something until he thought it was perfect and set a high bar for himself. I had no doubt he would be successful and we’re all very excited for him.”
