Ivo Ivanov is a native of the formerly communist Sofia, Bulgaria and relocated to the United States at the age of twelve. The relocation meant learning a new language, it also meant exposure to a new music, and Ivo was inspired. Trained formally in classical piano, in the US he picked up the electric guitar – and didn’t put it down. His passion musically expanded to the new generation of synthesizers and keyboards. The interest in the gear eventually earned him a job at Guitar Centers as the keyboard manager. The position provided technical training, but Ivo hungered for more.

After some success as a working-touring musician, Ivo gained insightful exposure to the world of audio engineering and music production. This experience gelled his goal to study and work in audio.

Several moves around the country and a series of odd jobs later, Ivo was able to overcome financial hardship enough to finally apply to Expression. The TEC scholarship helps to realize his dream. Ivo plans to use every minute of his time in school, “As a student at Expression College for Digital Arts, I feel that I am a part of a remarkable group of working and soon-to-be working industry professionals. I plan to maximize my skills and understanding of every aspect of the industry in order to make myself as well-rounded as possible.”
