Legendary producer Jack Douglas (Aerosmith, John Lennon, Patti Smith) takes on advanced sound arts students nine times a year to teach studio etiquette, a class unique to Ex’pression College. Jack sometimes books his own bands, but often relies on studio manager Jafar Thorne to bring in fresh, local artists.

Such was the case with Cyndi Harvell, a singer-songwriter from Georgia who recently relocated to the Bay Area to peruse her musical career. Upon working with Cyndi the first time, Jack commented, “she came in like an angel sent from vocal heaven.” Jack was so taken with her talent he immediately referred her and band mates Mike Stevens and John Howland to local producer Jim Greer (Galactic, Handsome Boy Modeling School and the Rondo Brothers).
Jim agreed immediately to produce the project under Jack’s direction and also signed them to Berkeley indie label Fortune Records. This weekend is your chance to see for yourself the organic, folk-rock, poetic artist that is capturing the attention of KFOG and the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival.
