Ex’pression College for Digital Arts Hosts Battle of the Bands Competition

Finalists in DeliRadio High School Battle of the Bands Named

(EMERYVILLE, CA – May 4, 2012) – Ex’pression College for Digital Arts, one of the premier schools of its kind in the United States, is proud to be hosting the DeliRadio High School Battle of the Bands competition, where eight local high school bands will take the stage and compete. The eight finalists include: The Inq (San Francisco); After Shock (San Francisco); Reid Saw a Ghost (Fremont); The Firewall (Martinez); Minute 2 Midnight (San Ramon); Vons De Qua (San Francisco); In the Mourning (Danville); Eager Eyes (Alameda). The competition takes place on Saturday, May 12, 2012, and begins at 12PM in Meyer Hall, and top prizes include professional recording sessions and production of a music video.

Bands will have 15 minutes to showcase their musical talent and ability in front of a distinguished panel of judges and a live audience, who will also be voting that day. The competition will be streamed live online at www.expression.edu/webcam.

DeliRadio, an internet radio station/streaming service based out of Oakland, CA, is presenting this competition for the first time, offering Bay Area musicians 13-18 years of age an opportunity to be discovered. To get to the finals, bands created an artist profile on deliradio.com and uploaded two original tracks and a band photo.

“DeliRadio has always supported the discovery of new music and bands – our station allows bands to share their music freely, while also promoting upcoming shows in the area. We exist to help listeners and artists find new music. Teenage and high school musicians are no exception and we believe there is a lot of potential, just waiting to be discovered – the Battle of the Bands is way for this to happen,” commented Deli Radio VP of Marketing, Matthew Smith.

“Our job as educators is about providing and creating opportunities for our students to learn and grow – this competition creates a similar opportunity for young musicians. We are happy to support this initiative by offering our faculty, students and our professional-grade facilities to help young bands get their first break,” commented Daniel Levinson, chief executive officer, Ex’pression College for Digital Arts.

Admission is free and open to the public for the finals of the Battle of the Bands competition on May 12th.
