Expression College for Digital Arts Brings Grammy Winners and Nominees to East Bay

Expression College for Digital Arts, the premier school of its kind in the United States, today announced that 9 of the 2005 GRAMMY winners and nominees have come to Expression to perform for students, lecture on the industry during Insider Days - all to encourage students to reach for success and realize their dreams. Many have signed Expression “Wall of Fame” with encouraging words for students. Expression congratulates all the artists for their GRAMMY wins.

GRAMMY winners and nominees that have come through Expression’s doors include:

* Producer Al Schmitt won multiple GRAMMYs as sound engineer for Ray Charles’ CD Genius Loves Company, bringing his total to at least 14 GRAMMYs. Al’s comment on Expression’s “Wall of Fame” boasts of the school “Wow, I’m impressed!”

* Multiple GRAMMY award-winning producer Phil Ramone won for Ray Charles’ Genius Loves Company. Phil Ramone presented his thoughts on the industry at Expression for an Insider Day and his son attendedExpression.

* Los Lonely Boys was nominated twice and won a GRAMMY for Best Pop Performance. The group performed a private concert at Expression in partnership with KFOG.

* Hoobastank was also nominated twice and in the category Best Pop Performance. The group performed an up-close concert at Expression in conjunction with KCNL.

* Ozomatli won their 2nd GRAMMY in the Latin category with the album Street Signs. Ozomatli’s DVD was produced at Expression and credits go to the school’s Director for Sound Arts, John Scanlon.

* Artist Ben Harper won 2 GRAMMYs, one in the category Best Instrumental Pop Performance and one in the Gospel category, together with The Blind Boys of Alabama. Ben Harper performed an up-close concert at Expression in conjunction with KCNL.

* Steve Earle won his first GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Folk Album after nine previous GRAMMY nominations. Steve Earle performed a private concert at Expression in partnership with KFOG.

* Bruce Hornsby won a GRAMMY for Best Pop Instrumental. Bruce Hornsby performed a private concert at Expression in partnership with KFOG.
