Jamie Caliri, Award-Winning Director to Deliver Ex’pression College Expert Series Lecture

EMERYVILLE, CA – SEPTEMBER 16, 2009 – Ex’pression College for Digital Arts, the premier school of its kind in the United States, today announced an Expert Series lecture with director Jamie Caliri on September 16th from 5-7 PM. A question and answer period will immediately follow the presentation. The lecture is open to the public and free of charge, but space reservations are required. Jamie Caliri is a multifaceted director and motion graphic designer whose body of work encompasses multiple genres including film, television, advertizing, and music videos. His most recent project, the title sequence for Showtime’s, “The United States of Tara”, was nominated for an Emmy Award.

The Expert Series is part of Ex’pression College’s ongoing commitment to the professional development of our students; bringing industry leaders on campus to speak face-to-face with students, sharing insight, knowledge, and creative work.

Director Jamie Caliri is known for combining creativity in storytelling with technical innovation. Early in his career he directed music videos for a variety of artists including Eels, Marcy Playground, and Morphine, whose video “Early to Bed,” garnered Jamie a Grammy Award nomination for best music video.

Caliri’s work was highly praised for his title sequence in “Lemony Snicket’s a Series of Unfortunate Events,” released in 2004. Since then, he created two Annie Award winning ads for United Airlines. The first, Dragon, is credited as contributing to the upsurge in popularity of stop-motion animation.

Jamie Caliri is originally from Buffalo, New York and currently lives in Southern California with his family. Jamie is represented by DUCK studios for commercials and Paradigm for feature film.
